Revisit

It is always good to revisit. Revisit familiar places and faces.
This Lent, the daughter and I decided to revisit folks in faraway Valencia.
When I did the planning, I made sure photographs will be taken. You can be sure I will be writing some blogs.
Well, it has been a desirable visit. First, we took some photos on the road. Who can resist the beauty of the sea huh! I can’t.
After a luxurious drive from the city at noon time, we reached the home of Donna. I love this family. I love this home. It’s so cozy and comfortable and the food is genuinely home-cooked! Truly delicious.
The ambiance was made perfect by the picturesque orchids in full bloom. Ah it truly reminds me of mother and her orchids.
A lot of stories swapped, laughter and guffaws shared, photos taken, and it’s time to watch a traditional ritual – the Catholic church procession.
This trip is truly rewarding in many ways. It’s a deposit of good memories in my expanding memory bank.

Food for thought
“You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.”

There's something about Daisy

How delightful! My friends are getting younger haha. That’s what one gets when one enrolls in law school. One particular young friend of mine is Daisy. Daisy is the quiet type who scores high. She reads and punishes herself to read more to prepare for an exam. I wished I had that dogged determination. I call her topnotcher because she oftentimes scores highest during exams.

Of course, she is the product of great genes. Her parents are both actively engaged in the legal profession.

I will be missing Daisy. In the landscape of our lives, the stars will always align to enable us to meet new people to stretch us and expand us. Friendship is one sure way of expanding our lives. Never ever doubt for a moment that the friendships you build will go unrewarded. For friendship itself is the best reward.

Daisy Girl, fret not, the stars will always align for both of us.

A languid afternoon

Musing on a lazy Thursday afternoon.

I am such a provinciana. I am seated by a kiosk enjoying the scenery. The breeze is cool blowing the coconut leaves right in front of me. Across me from a distance, a young man in shorts is strumming the guitar oblivious to the woman watching him. Oh boy, he is sitting on the balcony railing. It is totally an unsafe condition. He could fall down from the second floor together with his guitar.

Towards my left are male college students creating discordant voices. They finally left. What a relief!

At the back, the welder is busy doing about his menial task. Oh, two men in white uniform are presently doing an exercise routine presumably as punishment. I am bothered. It seems they won't stop. Finally they did!

Unbelievable! Just as I thought everything was quiet again, two men in white uniform slug it out physically. Haha. Talk about boxing. The school guard intervened. What could have happened if the guard just let them be? I wonder.

Imagine. I am only seated here and yet I witnessed all these. It's the beauty of simply letting time pass you by.

Try it. Even a city lass will enjoy it.

Life at seventeen

Why is it that the young ones (read: teenagers) want to grow up fast while the grown men and women, especially in their forties, would like their lives to begin at forty? Funny but true.

For the young people, it's like life is a race and they want to be on the front seat of things. However, for the forties, life is no longer a race. Life is a pace. There is rhythm and cadence. Such is the beauty of growth and maturity.

At seventeen, my daughter enjoyed her biggest break so far. She is happy, grateful, and blessed. I am, too. She has desired and prayed for an opportunity to come her way, and God granted it.

Ruthie, your life has just begun.
